Based on George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood,” “House of the Dragon” is set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones” (better known as “Game of Thrones”). The play tells the story of House Targaryen and its dragons, including the civil war that rages as half-brothers Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) vie for the throne after their father’s death (Paddy Considine).
Rhaenyra is the eldest daughter, but Aegon is the son of a second marriage, causing growing tension between the two Targaryen clans over who truly has the right to the throne. According to “Game of Thrones,” the Targaryen family was known for their imposing dragons, but they became nearly extinct due to internal conflict.
