When a bicycle is stolen at the beginning of the story, it is difficult to imagine the accumulation of actions that this random event will provoke. Shortly after, there is an apparent accident on a train in which several people die, including the wife of the character played by Mads Mikkelsen, whose teenage daughter survives the accident. Both deal with the duel differently, we would almost say immature in both. The Danish actor plays here a character who has a deep inner wound, which can only be healed through violence. A suitable occasion when three paranoid geeks who claim to have found evidence that the accident has been caused.
The director and screenwriter perfectly manages the mix of genres: the thriller with a dose of violence, very black humor and a certain absurd drawing of the characters, achieving what is possibly his best film. This time it is up to Nikolaj Lie Kaas to play the most unhinged character, the leader of a trio of weird guys who somehow fit badly in society. But something similar can also be said about Mads Mikkelsen, the soldier who keeps his emotions and is outside his comfort zone (war) when he must return home. In the end, the film speaks effectively of misfit characters, but also of those fortuitous events that can be relevant in our lives.
