There are also some appropriately disturbing battle scenes, all of which are overexposed or overly stylised to the point of distraction, sometimes shot with a surreal camera that’s physically very close, and all of which are close to – is there any confusion? Various body parts shatter, and the soldiers are thrown from their horses, metal grinding against metal. The stunts and vintage weapons in these scenes are both impressive, and some of the special effects and photo montage appear to be quite expensive.
