It’s astonishing how horribly this film handles its story. Amazing, given that it’s essentially a remake of the comedy classic “Blazing Saddles,” which makes it even more humorous that Mel Brooks also lends his voice to the picture.
No, it’s more than just referring to a few events or being an homage. In many aspects, this is a one-on-one recreation of Blazing Saddles, complete with a re-enacted narrative, characters, and situations. This is unlikely to interest a youthful audience. Because, let’s face it, how many 10-year-olds will go watch an almost 50-year-old movie for fun?
