Of course, when the movie is inside Norman’s house, Sayagues manages to build up the rhythm of tension in a way that traps you in the chair like he did in the first movie. The part when the invaders arrive at the scene, and Norman is outside, and only Phoenix is inside there is incredibly tense and the dark environment and the various scenes and chosen angles really contribute to the sequence to stand out in punctual scenes. But is all that enough for the movie?
As an isolated thriller, The Dark Man 2 makes one that calls attention, without a doubt. As part of a franchise, and compared to the first movie, it leaves something to be desired. But the way Alvarez and Sayagues conduct this story, giving us piece by piece, where we have twists and turns, which help the viewer to understand what happens to these characters and the reasons that lead them to do certain things turns out to be really the big highlight of the movie.
